Who We Are

A national umbrella association bringing together churches, ministries and clergy from every part of Kenya.

About CCAK

The collective voice of the Church and clergy in Kenya

The Church and Clergy Association of Kenya (CCAK) is a non-partisan, faith-based organisation registered with the Registrar of Societies. We serve as a collective voice and representative body for the Church and clergy in Kenya.

We defend the freedom of worship and association, promote unity within the Body of Christ, and work to uphold the moral and spiritual fabric of our nation.

CCAK is interdenominational. Membership is open to registered churches, ministries, para-church organisations, fellowships of clergy and individual clergy who share our values and mission.

Our commitment

We believe in respecting the Church, empowering its leaders and serving the community. Together we can build a Church that is heard, respected and relevant, and a nation that is peaceful and whole.

Uniting the Church. Empowering the Clergy. Serving the Community.

Our core mandate

Five commitments we carry for the Church and the nation

Unity of the Church

We foster fellowship, collaboration and oneness among churches and clergy, whatever their background, size or tradition. One Body, many members.

Defence of religious freedom

We defend the constitutional right to freedom of worship, belief and association, and engage government and other stakeholders so that laws and policies respect the place of faith in society.

Clergy empowerment & self-regulation

We champion the welfare, dignity, training and accountability of clergy. The Church has the capacity and the responsibility to regulate itself in doctrine, ethics and ministerial integrity.

Community welfare & advocacy

Our pastoral mandate reaches beyond the church walls. We advocate for social justice, peace, cohesion, good governance and the dignity of every Kenyan, and we stand with the vulnerable.

National engagement

We serve as a moral conscience and a voice of reason for the nation, promoting dialogue, peace, national values and constructive engagement in times of national need.

Our story

Born in a season of crisis, built to last

CCAK was formed during the COVID-19 pandemic, when churches and society faced hard questions about worship, gatherings and the welfare of ministers. Since then we have worked to see that freedom of worship is respected, that clergy are treated with dignity, and that human rights are upheld.

The work began earlier. Our founder and President, Bishop Hudson Ndeda, has been on the frontline of this cause since 2015, when the government made an attempt to restrict freedom of worship. Together with other bishops, he has repeatedly and successfully engaged the government on the matter.

In a few short years CCAK has grown into a respected national body with more than 1,500 member churches and clergy.

The President, General Secretary, General Treasurer and the national executive.

County chapters

A chapter for each of Kenya’s 47 counties, led by county officials.

Sub-county chapters

Sub-county leaders serving churches and clergy on the ground.
